what torch type is it on, a fixed one or the euro type connector one.
Just one of my previous torches had the same problem, after close inspection it was obvious i had dropped something nice an heavy on it. If it is the euro conector type torch, get the other half to hold the torch end and pull it strait as you feed the liner up, then as it gets stuck get them to waggle the torch up and down so to speak.
I'm having similar issues with my Clarke 90. It has a fixed torch and I can't even get the old liner out, let alone the new one in! Is there a "secret" to liner replacement?
Thanks for the reply, its a standard clarke torch which i think is a fixed torch? Ive tried pulling it straight and it goes in most of the way but gets stuck.
Have you unscrewed the brass end from the liner before pulling it out/refitting? I've a feeling there's only one at the torch end on the Clarkes, and have heard mention it's best to pull the liner from the torch end.
I have now got mine in. I just sprayed some silicone lubricant (WD40 type stuff) down the outer casing and it slipped straight out. I had the forethought (unusual for me!) to tape the new liner on to the old one so it was pulled into place as the old one came out.
There is a brass fitting at the torch end of the Clarke liners and the other end is held in place by a plastic clamp that is part of the wire feed mechanism. Just needed trimming to length then with a decent pair of side cutters/pliers.
