Noone will buy my Miller power supply without a wire feeder. Have had several calls on Craigs List ad. So kept an eye out on ebay. This Hobart feeder came up. Again, poor description, crappy pictures. A mess of wires and cables.
I saw it had a Tweco gun. Looked like a #2 (it is.) So, bid and got the whole thing for what a used Tweco gun goes for ($58+shipping). Figured if it is useless, I could use the gun on the Airco (the #4 I have is f'ing huge.)
Seller is an idiot: "I just don't understand this ebay/internet stuff" He never answered emails, filed a PayPal claim. He never responded to them, they refunded my money (paypal buyer protection is important.)
Today a big wood box appears in my garage. WTF, it is the feeder 6+ weeks after the ebay close.
It is dirty and has some redneck wiring mods. Surface corrosion.
It is the mother of all wire feeders.
4 rollers, all 4 rollers gear driven.
The motor is 7" long and 4.5" in diameter. The gearbox is 5"x5"x6". Jeez, I have seen winches with smaller motors.
Motor/gears are near silent. Everything works. So, some cleanup, make some cables and I'll have a complete 300A MIG setup to sell.
Here's the regulator/flowmeter that was with it. Looks almost military:
Interesting, but only use is scrap metal.
