Wire feed roller types

Hi all,

I have some 0.9 wire, however the rollers I have are only 0.8 or 1.0mm (both V groove). Should I be using the 0.8, 1.0, or get a 0.9 roller?

I also have some 0.6 wire, that I have with a U shaped groove roller (which I presume is for ally). Is this OK to use with steel wire?

I don't appear to be having issues with wire feed in my welding (just my general incompetence ) but am just wondering if I should be getting the exact size.

What is the 0.9mm wire. is it flux core etc? If it is you will need a knurled roller set as the fluxcore is quite a lot stiffer and takes more driving. If it's plain wire just try the 0.8MM V groove, the difference in diameter between 0.8mm and 0.9mm is only 0.004" thou.

I would not use the U feed rollers for anything but ally, Unusual size if they are 0.6mm
