i am finding it difficult to sort out a wire feed problem. i am welding 7mm plate to some 10mm plate however after welding for about 10cm the wire feed starts to play up and not feed well. i have a Murex 2x2 roller wire feed unit.
i have checked the liner in the gun and that seems fine (not broken anywhere).
the drive rollers seem to work ok, but can only check when not welding (cos i am on my tod).
i have changed the tip.
i only have an air coolled torch and it does all get very hot while welding. i am running 1mm wire with a 1.2 tip to over come any problem that may occur from the tip getting hot.
is it a heat problem or is my drive motor and gear box on the way out.
if it is the drive motor and gear box what sort of money should i expect to pay for a new one?
regards rich.
