Wire feed issue

Hi. I looked in the machine section and mine isn't listed. I've got a black line 200 mig and the wire feed at the torch has stopped working.
The feed works at the machine when I press the auto feed, normally used to feed the wire from the drum to torch. But pressing torch trigger produces nothing, no motor sound.....nothing
I've only used about 2/3 of the wire and the only change I've made was to replace the mig tip.
One weld later, and.....nothing...
Any pointers or advice or is it time for a new torch?

Check you have got voltage at the torch switch (carefully, it could very well be mains voltage), check continuity of both torch switch wires, check what they feed, probably a relay, check all connections etc...the auto feed button could be run direct to the motor which means it wont be effected by a failed torch switch...

If it's a erur type torch then remove torch and short across where the two pins of the torch go into the socket. If it operates the wire feed yo have a poor connection from the torch to the socket (the pins of the torch are sprung loaded). Or you have a faulty switch / loose wire in the torch.

Try it in Arc ( MMA ) mode. Even if you do not have any electrodes, just put a piece of MIG wire in the electrode holder and try to arc onto a piece of scrap.
If that does not work, it might be time for a new welder....

.turns out im an idiot....user error.

i must have flicked the switch from mig to mma mode...errrr
ill get my coat.......

on the positive side its back working, phew, but a bit windy outside for welding today so ill get back to it tomorrow.

Your not an idiot, at least you realised what you did, and were honest about it, more that some.
Takes a while to get used to a new machine, i still cant remember what way round the leads go for TIG
