well, after reading the simple fixes here for the misery I suffered last year trying to get this Cosmo welder to work, I don't know whether to feel good that it now seems to work very well, or bad that I didn't figure it out for myself
Anyway, many thanks for the advice from those clever enough to have resolved the issue.
Today I went to MM and bought a new steel liner, and made a bracket out of a small piece of 20mm aluminium angle, had to file a bit out to fit, and also use a spacer and a longer scew to fix at the top, I thought using this may give a little more stiffness to the mod compared to using a flat strip that was bent.
Seems to work very well now.
I noticed that the whole of the feed unit flexes way too much, and what I think would be ideal is a nice bit of ally plate machined to fit over the entire unit encompassing the bearing too.
Don't have a milling machine myself so will throw the gauntlet down for someone else to produce the goods
