wire cup brush

my bosch wire cup brush has pretty much come to the end of its life. its lasted well and now I cant find the same one to buy again.

what do you recommend for a decent stiff wire cup brush for rust and paint removal to fit in a drill?

I know they are technically a consumable but id rather pay a bit more for one that is going to last longer

I've had a few brushes for angle grinders from these people - they seem good to me.

I buy cheap twisted steel 3" cup brushes for about £2.50 and chuck them away when they are knackered. They do last a surprisingly long time and it does work out cheaper than buying "branded" ones.

Pressing to hard,that what smooths the bristles out,if its a dill fitting one run it in reverse,careful if you do,cos if if catches it'll kick badly,shame they dont do grinders with reverse action(or do they?????)

I never buy cheap cutting and grinding wheels. Brands like Dronco can be found for not much more and they definitely last longer and are safer.

with the torque of them, especially the big one, not sure I'd fancy that reverse option, not unless they had some kind of fancy locking device, in case the disc / brush unscrewed or teh disc disintegrated / delaminated by running the wrong way..... not a pretty sight !!

I find that a bit strange because they are a rip-off for just about everything, especially abrasives.

They do sometimes have unusual special offers. Three or four years back my local B&Q had an odd load of Makita drills for £35, with a set of Makita bits chucked in, usually £60. It wasn't a model they stocked normally

I can't ever recall having seen wire brushes for angle grinders in there, although the stock varies from store to store a bit and my local B&Q is one of the smaller ones.

don't buy unbranded oens off ebay, they're crap or poss seconds. they're out of balance and vibrate so bad.

My local is quite large, stock a big range of abrasive discs in about 6 sizes, wire brushes for drills and grinders, flap wheels the lot. Quite a big range of hand tools and tool boxes too. Also have a large store about 10 miles from my local too which stocks pretty much the same stuff but a bigger range of garden tools like mowers and strimmers
