Switched from my Sip Migmate 150T to a Clarke EN150 turbo. The clarke is much nicer for a start.
However, my problem. Welding a doorstep repair patch on my mini last night, butt welding. I believe I have the welder set on the lowest setting (is 1 or A lower?), and the dial hovering around 1 on the wire speed. However, when I got to weld, I get a pool, but it seems to stay molten a long time, and the I get a pool of weld burn along the wire towards the tip, like a fuse on a stick of dynamite!
So, is the wire speed too slow (although increasing it blows holes in the metal), could it be contaminates on the metal (have ground it back on one side, but the paint probably contains lead?), or cruddy wire? Any other causes?
