Ive a bit of that to do, and several of the posts with a supposed 15 year guarantee to replace after 9 years.

When I put posts in I always put the cement a bit higher than ground level (most people leave a bit low then cover with soil/grass it keep the post wet a lot of the time that reduces the life span of the post)

Its stock fencing, put in with a post knocker. No cement involved.

Got me out in the fresh air for a bit, extra post boshed in and a chunk cut out of the stock fence

Makes it easier to get the edible live stock into the top field

Gap filled with a hurdle to be secured with the farmers favourite twine

I could have sorted some hinges and stuff but it's pointless with the posts constantly moving

After Exeter today, I was roped in to help pull new beer pipes from the cellar to the beer engines.

Took longer as we had to sample a few beers, rum and the new coffee.

Today I finally sorted out the kitchen bin cupboard runners that had failed at least a year ago
The bearings had gradually disappeared and the thing didn't shut properly.

They needed riviting on .
The new ones were shorter so I had to shift them a bit but they now work well.


Another job out the way.

We just ordered the rest of the materials to finish the garage update.
A total of £658 to frame, insulate and board out the walls and ceiling.
Not bad really considering the cost of stuff these days.
I don't think we will be finished by the new year but we certainly have made progress!

In lieu of the jacking beam I'm still working on in the background, I'm knocking up a beam that will slide along my ramp so at least I can jack the wife's Mini up and do the two small repairs needed for the MoT next April.

Hi chaps,

I need to make this:

80 x 40 x 3 box with a couple of 22 x 16 tubes welded inside, then a slot through the whole lot. Getting the tubes into the box are straightforward but the slot is perplexing me just a little.

The slot is about 1/2" wide and about an inch in length. I have a drill press and a small mill (EMCO FB2 clone).

In my head I'm thinking once the tubes are welded in place, punch a 1/2" drill through whole lot on my pillar drill, and then use the mill to turn the hole into a slot. Am I that far off?

I've had a little play with the mill on just a piece of 22mm...

Then weld the 4 lengths of box section together. I've ordered some springs that will sit in those tubes to (if my sums are right!) hold the weight of the beam so it can be rolled along, settling once there is a bit of weight on it.

I got outside today and started cutting and splitting all the logs we've acquired over the last year or so.
Saw needs a new chain as this one has a few knackered teeth and cuts to the left now.

Time for a quick coffee in the sunshine before it sets.
