Winter fettling, keeping boredom at bay.

I thought I'd put up a quick post on what I'm fettling/fixing over this winter to stop me getting bored.
Day one after Christmas...
I've fixed the broken drawer runners on my bedroom chest of drawers but that involved moving the bed and twisting the drawers round to get them out. Nothings simple.
A quick fix and vacuum out all the dust and they are back together again but not before sorting out all the clothes, that got rid of at least 5 pairs of socks and neck warmers I don't need.
Next was the central heating cylinder stat that's been sticking on for a good few months giving us very hot tap water occasionally.
Naturally the new one is a different shape to the old so I had to cut a bit of insulation out but that seems ok now.
Then to put a rubber shroud over the shower pump pressure switch terminals after I replaced it with an adjustable one.
I'm now about to test a spare Stuart Turner pump I bought a year ago to see if it's any good before I replace the knackered hoses as they're bladdy expensive!
Coffee on the patio next before the sun goes down.

Ignoring all the small jobs which might turn into bigger jobs which will eat into the time available for the really big jobs which I can't be a***d to start anyway..

im not doing a thing til sunday...i finished work last monday, its been hectic since then, today is a chill day then my daughters 5th tomorrow...she has a soft play party on sunday that the mrs has wisely offered to do without me as i cant cope with 13 reception aged kids screaming and coughin on each other all day, so sunday im tackling the mess that has gathered in the shed, then making a stand for the 3d printer. once that is done and the printer is set up in its final resting place i am modifying my welder cart to actually fit the space it needs to live, then a stand is being knocked up for bead roller and shrinker stretcher and possibly the blacksmiths vice. once thats all done, i have to get round to raising the shed roof 150mm but cant really start that til everything is in its place becasue ill just end up climbing over stuff otherwise. easy project but time consuming given the vast amount of self tappers needed.

then, and finally, i can start learning how to use this bead roller and shrinker/stretcher.

i have no actual projects on the go right now, and none planned just yet as i got fed up of starting somehting for myself then getting side tracked by someone elses broken junk, just focussing on making the shed as comfortable and usable as i can so when i want to make something i havent got to worry about having to move the welder to get at the band saw, then move the chop saw to get at the pillar drill and so on

I've put a quote in for the demolition of a slice of carrot cake.I spoke to the owner and she seems keen to get rid and at such short notice I think I'm favourite.

Fixed the WiFi on the living room computer.
Hanging socket secured with longer screws.
Rear brake cable on bike snapped today so replaced that.
Carried on with a long running trailer project that I don't even like the results of but feel like I just need to finish

Had a try with the pump and it's seized
Paid a oner for that in "good working order".

Got a few small projects I can go to when I feel up dealing with them. Tomorrow I'm going to fire up my compressor and remove accumulated dirt and dust in several of our vacuum cleaner's filter's; then I'm going to have a nice hot bubble bath.

Tomorrow I shall open the garage door look at the shambles inside , then probably close it again If anything changes I shall report
Sunday is our Christmas open shoot I'll be out all day as a few of us are going for a few beers after .

The Mrs and I did a couple of hours on the garage conversion. We hope to have it fully lined by the new year.
We limit it to two hours a day or I get too tired and grumpy!

I measured the hot water a while ago and it was 68° !
I've knocked the stat back two clicks so will so what that does.

Moving a pyracantha bush tomorrow and making an alloy tank for the XT to hopefully hold 18 ltrs.

I'd planned to prepare the space / dig footings for my workshop in the holidays but I genuinely can't be arsed.

Seems a waste of a week off when you write it down..

snuck both to the trucks up to the shop and changed the oil on both of them,
snow was still deep, but half melted down forming very hard to navigate crust.
raining today, at 33F, temp dropping tonight.

might be a fun time.....

I got out into the workshop this evening for a couple of hours so I set up the air bearing and re-ground some centres for the lathe and cylindrical grinder.

Front calipers sticking on the ZJ, I've had a pair of new calipers and carriers sat on the shelf for a few years so they are now fitted, just need a set of pads to finish it off

I watched a cardboard box I brought home from Ikea all day ,,, its a bedside table and the box says self assembly

but so far it hasnt even moved

Ill see if it assembles its self tomorrow instead

I would argue that it if you can put something on it, and it doesn't fall off, it's already doing it's job and doesn't need further assembly

I have to do rear pads and discs on the d3. I just can't be arsed though! I know the handbrake will need faffing with afterwards and the blasted thing keeps throwing suspension warning lights (since I did all of the front arms last year). I know a couple of hours job will somehow turn into 3 days and can't face it.
