I wonder if the forums collective expertise – especially that of you guys over in the USA can help me on this one. I’ve been trying for some months to source some special – at least for the UK – replacement wing nuts.
I’ve tried the Internet without success and a number of other sources with the same results.
As far as I'm aware the only critical dimensions are the thread - 3/8 inch - 16 UNC - and the depth of the "boss" - about 5/8 inch rather than the 1/4 inch that seems standard for wing nuts of this thread size; and the fact that they're stainless steel - although I don't know what grade - highest strength I would imagine.
I believe the originals are forged but they could be cast, anyway I don't believe this to be critical although I don’t think pressed would suit.
I've attached a photo to show what the originals are like.
Does anyone have any suggestions where I might obtain a small quantity of these?
