Windsreen Protection

Can anyone recommed a material to help protect the windscreen from grinding sparks and spatter. I don't want remove it for a small job, as it's bonded.

a fire blanket would be a good start or sheet of ply wood

Welding blankets are designed for just that sort of thing. They are a bit like big thick fire blankets. Bunch of things will do the job as suggested - trick is to keep the sparks from the glass until they have cooled down. I often use cardboard which is great for little bits of spatter and probably less good for big bits.

Tape the edges with several layers of gaffa to stop it lifting or moving

I'm using a cheapo fire blanket. £6 I think for 1m x 1m.

A few layers of damp newspaper will do the job if you're stuck for something in a hurry and you're not firing the sparks directly onto the screen just working in the vicinity.

masking tape /cardboard works fine ...as long as its far enough away not to catch light

also dont forget that paint will suffer as well as the windscreen
