Windscreen Washer Pump

Hi chaps,
What windscreen washer pump is available that can be fitted to my S2 landrover, I'm on my 4 th one, previous recommendations taken and fitted, failing within a few months, or have required stripping and unseizing , or the drive shaft had rounded out the driven gear, no reliability, washer fluid normal stuff and has been renewed, nrv fitted and working , jets clear , or what scrap car to rob one from ,

Haven't had an issue with the ones in the Defender so perhaps one of those?

A 1964 Triumph Herald, they had a manual push one.

I fitted a Wipac? vacuum one to one car I had. Used to be BMC standard fit on some models in the mid 60’s

I just use the cheap generic ones come with a cheap generic bottle also around 7 quid

Yes 2x both failed in 12 months and probably 1 min of use

Never thought of a manual one ,will look into that ,in keeping with a 1959 basic landrover,

My dad's SII had an inch or so long plastic "pushbutton" sticking out of the dash, each stroke would squirt water onto the screen.

No, it's a boat bilge pump. The ones in partaloos don't have stealable handles IME.

My Reliant Regal 'plastic pig' was the same.

Not being funny, but I can't honestly remember the last time I came across a failed washer pump on any car I've owned, and that includes the ones that were stood frozen solid over winter with water and no washer fluid in.
Perhaps there is some other reason why they keep failing?

One of the split squirter nozzles on my Mondeo is blocked, sod's law it is the one that sprays my area of the screen. There only seems to be a vertical slot in it, not two holes, so I can't work out even where it will be blocked.

My V70 does seem to reduce performance every now and then, it was worse when I first got it. In the old days it was prod around with a needle. What I have found works the best and is really quick on this car is disconnect the pipe at a convenient point, sometimes it easy on the nozzle but some times they are pretty tight and it's easier to disconnect further down the line. Once you've disconnected blast the nozzle from the outside with a blow tool on and air line. If you have a blow tool with a rubber nozzle so much the better. I've found this way clears whatever is blocking the system completely, it transformed mine why I first got it as like yours it was obvious where you could prod it clear

I will repeat, you absolutely need to disconnect the pipe before doing this or you will end up blowing a pipe guaranteed in a an area you can't get to easily

I think that is the next step, pull the hose and hit the nozzle with compressed air. It's all hidden behind insulation, on the bonnet itself, but there has to be a visible joint somewhere.
