Have you got windscreen cover on your insurance - not suggesting application of a centre-pop to the screen, but many will often sort a free repair for chips.
Good grief ,, thats got a wee bit out of hand. If I was paying that for a chip , Id hit it with my boot first and put a screen in . the nice thing about glass is that if you dont like the diy version it will scrape off and be non the worse. Thanks all, I'm thinking of giving one of the kits a go for a tenner. One has been chipped for a while and only noticed the other one the other day but not sure how long that one has been on there.
I've only looked at the one policy, £15 excess for a repair which is ok and then £100 excess if it needs the screen replaced, not sure about the other car, will have to have a look.
Had a look at the autoglass online price thing, you enter all the info, size of chip, location of it etc. and they give you a price... £187put a screen in a different car for £150 fitted only the other year. No wonder insurance is so expensive when they're slapping them with those kinds of bills
