Windows Backup/Clone software.

I have used Acronis true image but they dont have one off payments for new versions. Its pay per year now. https://www.acronis.com/en-gb/products/true-image/purchasing/ Never had to use it...Thankfully but the time will be coming as I have several Desktops to keep running including 2 grandsons units and several Laptops. I am happy to use local on site backup but my use of Gmail and Dropbox (although its pretty clunky) have shown me the brilliance of cloud backups. I am gradually coming accustomed to pay per year products but my bank manager is not o happy, but if I have to pay per year I want to be able to use it on several machines.

I wonder if anyone has a better product to recommend in 2024 my old software was 2019.

I have been looking for a steer on which ones I should be looking at as mine is out of date.

ive already said it on your other post on the ssd hard drive

if your backing up just back up what you have and have a set time to do it and use hard drives to do so if you want a fast transfer of data to another hard drive then use ssd and transfer to bigger hard drives 2/3/4tbs i hate the speed of them though and chew at 5400rpms instead of 7200rpms as some idiot wants us to use the lower speed and i prefer faster which means i have to use a purple hard drive thats used within cctv so i get the 7200rpms instead

as goes for using other software i dont use it i just find acronis very useful for creating an image of a fully installed hard drive from there its a fast reboot of 6 mins to be fully running on the net with some further updates needed

i dont create an image on the same hard drive as if it goes down youve lost everything

i have 6 images to play with all on another hard drive to reinstall onto any machine that requires a full reboot of an image due to issues

i dont like cloud and im not paying for it but i will pay for hard drives instead

I was using Acronis too until they pulled that expensive stunt, however they are all jumping on that bandwagon now. I use EaseUS Todo Backup which was a reasonable price and far more user friendly.

Personally, Robocopy and a script. Free and good enough for the important stuff I need to backup. Not much point in imaging a machine as I can reinstall it easily.

Commercially it is usually veeam and virtual machines or MDT or disk images.

Macrium Reflect has a free version and works well.
