Not sure about the P4's really Sean, I've never been involved in the selection of harware and the pros of this and the cons of that! I just get a project dumped on me and, I figure out how to deploy it to the business without upsetting their deadlines and without losing user data. I sometimes enjoy pi$$ing off awkward users though!
A 32 bit OS should be fine though, or did you specifically want to go down the 64 bit route?
Been using windows 7 pro since release and find it great, the only real problem I find is that it will not support fax modems, you have to use a USB modem to use the scan and fax option. Still no support for internal fax/voice modems.
Wha?W7 is no where nearly as good as XP. I`ve had far more issues and Just had to re install for no apparent reason. Notwanting to lose much of the data I had I`ve reinstalled on another Western Digital drive. Installation went fine but the and the updating process has blown that somehow!
Wha?
As much as I loved XP when I was using it, give me 7 over XP any day!
I've been running it for yonks, I use my PC a hell of a lot and it's barely put a foot wrong since the day I installed it.
Any time it's ever thrown a wobbly it's always been a very minor one and it's always sorted itself out.
XP - missing startup files, random BSODs....pah!![]()
I'm working on a large (ish - about 1500 PCs) Win XP > Win7 Pro upgrade at work, and we dont get too much trouble with the new OS. I think XP was more robust though, and more tolerant of forced shutdowns, so I'm expecting a few issues with (stupid) users holding the power button down to force the machine to shutdown in a hurry. Time will tell though. I've built about 800 machines so far, and we've only had a few fatalities - probably less than 1 or 2%
