Random one….. I’ve got an ex utilities superwinch h14w pto driven winch that I was going to put on the defender. I converted it to a close coupled hydraulic motor, however for various reasons it’s looking less likely that I’ll be able to drive it, which leads me to the question…..
Do I use the winch I have, source an electric motor from somewhere and make a gearbox to run it ( max input is 1500rpm, with a 48:1 reduction, most leccy motors are 2500+) or do I sell it and try to find something like a 12v husky ( I want to stay with a worm drive winch as they hold a load a lot better) although huskies are few and far between and seem to have achieved “collector” status, and a price to match!
