Will compressor be suited for mortar spray gun?

Looking at buying a spray gun for spraying mortar. The gun spec states

"For best performance we recommended to
use 12 cfm @ 100 psi (340 liter@ 7 bar)
gas power or electric air compressor,
with a 15 to 30 gallon (60-114 liter) air tank."

The compressor I have my eye on is the 3HP 14CFM 150 Litre Clarke one. On first glance it would seem it is fine, but I just want to check as I am not sure whether the Clarke spec is telling me it can deliver 14CFM at 150PSI continually. If so, then I think I have answered my own question?

I think the 14cfm figure is the theoretical amount, the FAD* will be nearer to 8-9cfm.

what you need to know is what FAD (free air displacement) your mortar gun needs

if using at a customers house????

might be better going for petrol or diesel powered?

most kit of this ilk really needs a serious compressor..... often a roar compressor type of thing... low air means they just don't work

a big factor will be continuous rating as well .how long will it be running for if your spraying mortar??

That compressor won't cut it. You need to supply more info, 3hp is about the limit on single phase. You can get single phase comps that have 2 3hp motor's that don't power up at the same time but they are a lot more money

I won't be spraying walls or houses with it.

I have seen the dual 2 * 3hp motor compressors, but that is outside my price bracket.

You can fudge it by using empty propane cylinders as air reservoirs. Start the compressor running 20 minutes before to fill the reservoirs, its not ideal but its a workable option.
You could also get a second compressor and run it in tandem with the first, you might find it trips the MCB if they both start at the same time, not to bad if they are both running simultaneously, its the starting load that trips it.
I used this method to sandblast the hull of a fin keeled yacht, my compressor, a mates compressor on a separate circuit and 3 47kg propane cylinders.

I just spoke to the company in the US and told them the spec of the compressor and he said (imagine a strong US accent) "Awe. That compressor will be fine. Mine in the workshop is much smaller and it runs fine" He also said that the gun does not bleed air so that also helps?

Constant bleed guns are used on the tiny diaphragm compressors with no pressure switch, 99.9% of sprayguns are the non bleed type so thats just a bit of salesman's hype for his product.
