Wierd ebay prices

Has anyone else ever spotted wierd prices on eBay?

I've been looking for some adaptors for my new (used) pram, they attach the carrycot to the pram, second hand cost £50 on ebay, called the manufacturer today and they are £12 new with inc delivery!

There's also a popular large Chinese sand blast cabinet SBC220, when I bought mine it was £160 new, but used prices were nearer £200!

Me thinks people just assume second hand is always cheaper and don't check new prices.

It's because it costs nothing to list items on ebay, so sellers can have a laugh and if it comes off they laugh even more.

In the past I have listed items and they never sold, out of daftness I put them back on at stupidly high prices and I mean very high on buy it now and sold them.

Some years ago a mate wanted a wood rimmed steering wheel for his P38 Ranger Rover, it was considerably cheaper to buy from a LR dealer than eBay. As cumbriasteve points out, people will have a crack at it if they think they can get away with it and sometimes they do.

people have this notion its cheaper on ebay new or second hand do your homework 1st

I tend to put the item into google which will give me manufacturers, Ebay, Amazon etc. links so I can compare the prices.

This. Regular use the Google shopping tab. Gives a good cross section of prices from all walks.

Silly prices seem to rule EBay at the moment.

Don't pay until you sell, it's worth putting it on at a stupid price if you don't want to move it fast.

I used to buy the same bit of vintage electronics on ebay all the time.

Most of the time, the ones with damage / faults sold for more than the ones without - i guess people got sucked into bidding on them as they thought they would get a bargain...

The one I always notice is Aldo/lidl tools being put up for double the shop price as soon as there off the specials people seem to buy them just to sell after

Halfords resellers. I've not checked specifically, but I suspect eBay price is above eternal sale price.
