Jesus bloomin nora i am annoyed, got told off last time for using the naught words. So i will keep the moan clean

A few week back i had waited for four weeks fro a sheet of Sapele veneer to arrive only for it to turn up as White Oak, same week i ordered a charger for the boat and that arrived damaged.

Now i bought a car DAB radio for T fro her birthday, oh it arrived i fitting the DAB aerial and BT speaker. All good but the IOS is no good in the kit so i popped to every car shop inc Halfords for the correct one but they didnt have them in stock as i need a Quadconnect one.

Ha the last shop i went to had one so he said. What i found was that the one he had fitted was for a Ford and not Peugeot ( SWMBO`s car is a Pug 207 ) so he said he had switched two wires over as this is the only difference.

Ey by eck now when the radio is not on the dash turns off so no rev counter, fuel engine temp gauges AND all the lights show up on the dash. Aswell when you turn the car on there is a Anti pollution warning on the dash,

I am just going to get a CTSPG007.2 Steering Wheel Stalk Adaptor and fit the thing myself, this way i now it will fit, T can use the dash clock still and steering wheel stalk.


This is the reason i dont like anyone ding anything for me. To this day i have never let anyone work on our cars but for an MOT and maybe a tyre.

And for one i am NOT going to let anyone launch my boat when its done.

Is it just me or do things happen on a regular basis to all of you. I am surprised i am so calm really.

As you've discovered, Peugeot radios have the switched live (red) & the permanent live (yellow) the opposite way around in the radio loom. Radios are all supposed to use the ISO standard, it's just that Peugeot use there own version.

I suspect that the guy that modified the ford adaptor swapped the wrong wires, maybe he's feeding the illumination wire with a permanent live!

You can either get the correct patch lead or convert the peugeot loom to conform to the iso wiring standards. Autoleads are the best converter harnesses to get, had one in my 406, all the steering controls worked perfectly though I lost my dashboard radio info display.

Another thing to be aware of is that some peugeots have an amplifier built into the FM aerial so that they can use a short bee-sting aerial. But the amp doesn't use 12v, it uses 7v so if you connect the antenna wire from an aftermarket head unit to your pug aerial the 12v will blow the amp!

I found this out when I installed a head unit in my 306 & had poor FM reception because the amp isn't getting any power. The easiest solution in my case is to fit a combined FM/DAB aerial that has a 12v amp & not the oddball pug 7v!

You might find that you have poor FM with this head unit, you might have to upgrade your aerial!

So no good news I'm afraid, French cars are fun aren't they!

Yeah, that info is out of date...

The *06 series and before mainly conformed to the ISO standard using a pair of 8 terminal connector blocks (apart from constant and switched live) but from *07 on they changed to using quadlock connectors (about the same time as many other manufacturers), which looks totally different.

My 307 for instance uses quadlock, and the options are many - there's canbus connections, choice of amped or line out on same wires, interface to reverse sensors and other car configuration options, inputs for cd changer, dab, bluetooth, analogue line in, etc.

While you can get adaptors for these, they're variable in performance and compatibility - and that's not just a Peugeot thing, far from it.

I've chosen to modify my oem head unit instead of swapping it out because I want to be able to do things like set the dash clock (yep, done via radio and aftermarket don't do no nuffink good).

I’ve pulled quadlock connectors to pieces and made my own adapters in the past, they are a proper nightmare at times

The Disco 2 uses a BMW plug, I chopped up an adapter to remove the iso plugs as it’s a bit tight in the dash

I fitted car audio for a short while, I remember on range rovers haing to cut the iso plug in half for clearance then using the "heel and toe" method to get the radio in fully.

I am not sure if i want to faff with the wiring as it just does my head in on these modern cars and unless i have step by step instructions i know i will just throw a spanner.

We used the radio as is today and it works fine aslong as we dont turn it off, as said i think the whole dash shuts down and all warning lights show up.

If i can wire it up with so the central dash reading as in time date trip meter screen is good that will be ok, The stalk controls do not matter now.

I will read through some gubbins on the net and see if i can sort it.

I dont think the CTSPG007.2 harness will do that now after more reading.
