Why is my gun blowing paint out the cup vent hole?

I'm painting some small parts and this is one of those cheap smart repair guns, but I'm sure it didn't do this when I first got it.

Oh! and while I think of it does anyone know where I can get replacements of the tiny "O" rings for the needle and air valve please?

That's what I thought Steve, I know I clean it well and filter the paint, so I took it all to bits to see if I could see a problem. I found one but I don't know if it would cause this.
The fan control has a threaded brass inner part that the knob is attached to and as you turn the knob, due to the fact it is threaded into a ferule which is screwed into the body of the gun, it moves in and out.
Mine doesn't! the ferule if indeed that is what it's called has a nut which can be seen outside and a tube which goes inside the body, the tube is threaded on it's outside, so the ferule can be screwed into the body.
and the brass bit with the knob screws into it. It has an internal thread which is in the nut part, and further down the brass bit there is a small rubber ring which forms a seal inside the tube.
Well the nut part has broken away from the tube part, so you can turn the knob all day and the nut rotates with the brass internal shaft and so it does not move in and out. in effect the brass bit is now a plunger in the tube and the only thing holding it in is the friction between the rubber ring and the tube.

Now because I was spraying small parts I didn't want much of a fan, so I hadn't noticed, but in fact it is fully in, which I would have thought would give no fan, just a small circle, but it shouldn't cause it to blow paint out the cup should it?

it shouldn't be able to do it, even with the fluid tip blocked, check for cracks

I found the box it came in and it had the parts list in it, After you commented about the cost of parts, I thought I would ask Fast Mover how much it would cost for a new fan valve, I emailed them and explained which part of the valve had fallen apart.
I got an email this morning saying that even though I bought it less than a year ago, they don't do that model anymore, or parts for it. so if I sent them my address they would send me a later model How's that for customer service. i will have a spare now
