Huh - that's a good idea! I suspect they already have a pot in them, too, unlike guitar pedals which tend to be on/off switches.
The Dunlop cry baby's arent, they have a rack which turns a standard VR pot and have a seperate latching push switch for max travel/enabling, in fact any of the wah wah pedals possibly are the same because you modulate the wah with the position but Ive seen inside the dunlop ones to know for sure.
I had a old wrecked dunlop cry baby to make a pedal for the boc before I found out the original had the power innards, it would be very suitable for the transformer tig but I got one in the deal anyway so I gave it to a guitarist friend.
Singer pedals, dont think they have a seperate on off switch, and they have funny resistances, sometimes when you change a machine's motor you have to swap the pedal too as there doesnt seem to be any industry standard.
Newer sewing machines control a control voltage rather than routing motor current through them. Theres a few round here as my wife is a quilter/patchworker for one of her hobbies and I have got roped in modifying them from time to time.

I can't find the thread I mentioned earlier and I didn't take many pictures during construction if mine. But I removed all the original wiring and replaced it with my own, added a switch at the heel end so as soon as the pedal is depress the current is started

My Inverter Fusion manual tells you which pins on the machine to connect the pedal to, and the correct pot value.

I do find it odd that R-Tech ship the unit with a solderable plug for the pedal but don't give the pinouts or pot details in the manual...My Inverter Fusion manual tells you which pins on the machine to connect the pedal to, and the correct pot value.
