Why accountants need to speak to sales

Just got a load comming back from galv this morning. Quite a lot of railings

Normally with smaller loads I will send through another and pay a few pence more per kg but save the transport

This morning I just finished another job in time to go so I phoned! They want transport to take it back and re- deliver not just one way.

They still incur a run back and the job ain't bulky enough or priced well enough for two paid runs
Yet still it will sit here till Thursday when I do a shared weekly run with another firm

How much stuff do they loose out on doing this I wonder - yet still incur the cost?

Not moaning it is what it is nut any salesman or buisness owner would say " chuck it on and pay us for return only - just as a one off"

Many moons ago, accountants had a battle with managers, sales people, engineers, etc and accountants won. They seem to be a law onto themselves and don't seem to have to answer to anyone.

Well I think it's a training issue In accountancy. My wife is an accountant and gets buisness past the stage of bean counting. She also has massive recruitment difficulties even at the top pay scale stuff

Good accountants are commercial not just bean counters but as an ex sales professional sometimes you need to have a word and sell them the idea
