As Dannyweld has said, you don't get your empty one refilled, you take it in and they swap ir for a full one.
The downside is that you have to have an account as the cylinders are the property of the supplier, not the end user, therefore even if you've bought them they still (officially) aren't yours.
BOC are fitting their cylinders with plastic ID tags now to ensure that the one you take back is the one you rented.
One member recently got nabbed when he tried to exchange one although he doesn't say if it was an argon or an oxy one he was exchanging.
This could be the beginning of the end of the 'two bottle shuffle'
The up side of all of that BOC control freakery is that you get a good, safe bottle that will be replaced foc if you have a problem. I got a new bottle the other week and the seal leaked. They swapped it immediately. No question, no charge. They also have a pretty joined up support network. I rang last Friday about an invoice that I had received and the phone was answered - at 21.00 hrs!!! They have 24/7 telephone support. I wish that it was slightly cheaper, yes, but the difference between doing it properly and having a backstreet job is a couple of rounds of drinks. If you take out a contract - and yes, they look like BOC bottles, make sure that they stipulate MONTHLY rental charge on your whole account, or you will get billed for the year. You can use a bottle, take it back and not pick up a refill. There is no charge if you don't have a bottle. As long as you pick one up and drop it off within the month, you only get one month's rental. An 'x' will cost you about a fiver for the month. Plus the gas, which you have to buy anyway and a swappage charge. That is a real bummer actually. It's about £16 each time.
