hey, need some advice, i was spraying a set of gates outside yesterday with a new brand of paint which is white spirit based rather than cellulose which i usually use, and this time overspray blew all over my grandads car and now has black spots all the way around it, he hasnt noticed yet but ive tryed tcut which works but not well enough, so on an unseen area i tried some white spirit on a cloth and all of it came off without damaging the paint underneath, so the question is, will it be safe to use the white spirit method on the rest of the car?, the car has 2 pack paint if thatll make any difference, thanks in advance

White spirit will be fine, you should be able to remove any over spray with soap and water as it will be sat on top of the grime and polish and hasn't had the chance to adhere.
just don't overdo the white spirit and soap it off as soon as poss.

White spirit will be ok, but it will also remove wax polish, so you'll need to re wax the car, I had some kind person do exactly the same thing to my gleaming white Granada, I shifted it with a mixture of T cut and white spirit, then finish with a spray wax.

As everyone has said the W/S will strip the polish (actually the wax) protective layer but WS will not have a chance on cured clear-coat. Just be sure to soap it off (not Fairy liquid as it contains SALT and is abrasive) with a good quality car wash and then wax and shine it!
BUT! If it still looks poor after that, it'll definitely need a FULL RESPRAY!

ye, im always careful with grinder sparks, pointing them to the metal garage door, there more dodgey than a flame itself!, i once set fire to myself because of them 
, as for spark spray on cars, well 
, naah im onlyjoking the cars always well away from the grinder,,
anyway, the paint mishap, i tried white spirit on the bootlid and it took about 1 hour of constant scrubbing with it, it got it all off but it took long enough, so i was a bit naughty and got the thinners out
, tried it on a rag on an unseen part of the car and it came off with a guick wipe 
, so to be sure i left it on the car for about an hour to see if it had any effects, and it didnt so off i went and did the whole car in 2 hours but this time i wiped the exess thinneres off with lots of soapy water after each bit. the car has never been so shiney in its life!, you can see your face in it now and about 4 days on the paintwork still is fine so turns out that the thinners method was good!. and for now on no more spraying in the garden and not with crappy takes long to dry paint either

ps. to anybody who has the same problem dont try these methods streight away just because it worked for me, please do what i did and try them on an unseen area of the paint work first. i cant be held responsible yaddie yaddie ya ect ect ect smallprint .
