Which primer

Hello everyone
I have 200 holes in my van floor from it being a minibus its 2008. They are not that rusted but the bolts i took out where.
I have sanded down and treated with rustins.
Then was going to put a primer on from inside. Any suggestions which one? Iv read epoxy primer and zinc galvanised spray? I have no idea.
Then was going to fill holes with jb steel weld stick. Some say sikaflex and a coin
Or sealant and rubber grommet, any suggestions here appreciated. I'm not going to weld as i don't have the Skill
I'm going to get inside treated at a later date to protect from rust.

Also some paint is chipping off bonnet. I am going to paint the hole thing but could i use the same primer on here as it's bare metal and want to get it covered.

Get it as clean as you can and give it a coat of epoxy primer (not epoxy mastic) you can then cover the holes with discs and PU mastic if needed. I personally cant see a need for galv paint as the epoxy will counter dry rust and seal against the elements. You can use the same primer for your bonnet.

Spoke to a garage they recommended buzzweld rust encapsulator that has high zinc...
Not sure if i can use that on the bonnet.
Also was told maybe dont need to bother filling holes and covering they with flashband, or your vapour barrier would be fine as long as they are treated well

Im not sure if its overkill tbh for interior van floor i think its usually for the chassis. Cost me £15 to get delivered so feel a bit stupid on that one!
Do you have any recommendations for the bonnet where paint has chipped aware revealing exposed metal. Im going to paint it all (not after perfect job) but wonder if i need to sand these patches and prime them first

just started to sand back the rust paint glue old ply. I bought buzzweld rust encapsulator to paint on the floor but might be a bit ott. Would red oxide or epoxy be better?
Have already bought this other stuff but could use it for underneath.

Then i also have so paint chipped off. Going to sand and treat i think with epoxy primer before i paint the whole thing myself.... Any suggestions which epoxy primer to get? Is is uv stable because this is the bonnet

It's not that these zinc primers or rusty metal primers are terrible products, it's more that with proper preparation epoxy primer will do the job just as well if not better.

I've used Bilt Hamber Electrox zinc primer and currently use a 90% zinc primer that I got cheap - both aerosols, both good products, but since using 2k epoxy primer I now use them as temporary primer or in areas I can't easily reach. These types of primer are porous and will absob moisture whereas epoxy isn't and it won't allow rust to creep back in if applied properly.

Zinc primer needs to be in contact with bare metal to work properly too - it's wasted as a coating on top of rust encapsulator or rust paint.

It's a faff mixing a 2 part epoxy primer, especially small amounts, but it does the job and once you start using it you realise it's the superior product.

Be sure that you know the difference between zinc primers and zinc phosphate primers. Zinc primers tend to a bit expensive, and really should go down on clean metal; I have not used them for decades. For the past 20+ years I've used nothing else other that zinc phosphate primer, which will tolerate going on to a corroded surface which still has a bit of rust on it, and then a top coat, and have been really pleased. For many years, we were told that epoxy paints were best... and then some companies started adding zinc phosphate to their expoxies, which suggests that were good, but could be improved upon.

From what I can tell he was merely relaying what a body shop told him (a place most people would qualify as a trusted sourced) and likely wanted someone with knowledge to weigh on it. It's very understandable when you are new and you get multiple sources, both claiming to be experts, to get confused.

It's unreasonable to get snarky with people because someone didn't see your 50 years of experience through the internet.

What am i questioning?
Even though I paid for some other stuff im going with the epoxy advice... I'm just asking any recommendations
I don't think you understand how much conflicting information is out there and if you're a beginner how confusing it can be.
I have no idea what people's experience is or who they are so it seems like a reasonable request to validate your decision against other completely conflicting advice to get a bit if clarity
I can see how it can be annoying to be questioned if you really know what your talking about but it's not my intention to do that it's only to get clear on all this confusing conflicting information as a beginner

I think it's fair enough to try for a range of opinions/replies especially if you're new to a forum & don't know the characters involved.
Even here - shock horror! - there's a range of contributors some of whom may not really know what they're talking about but will give their opinion based on no expertise or experience. I'm not saying that's what's going on here just that the op is wise to look for a range of contributors and then try & find a way through.

If that's an old Boxer van, they had a big problem at one point with the factory paint falling off everywhere - if it's one of them, you might end up having to strip the whole bonnet for a lasting repair.

As far as I know, the Buzzweld epoxy stuff is a thick coating intended for under-body / chassis work, so wouldn't really be suitable for areas that need to look presentable. As a DIYer, I've been using Lechler 29107 epoxy primer recently on recommendations from here and I'm pleased with the way it goes on, but haven't got any experience of its longevity yet. You can brush it, but for something like the bonnet, it would need to be sprayed. (Compressor, spray gun, mask, etc.). It needs a top coat to be weatherproof.

I believe you *can* get 2 part epoxy primers in aerosol form that might be OK if you haven't got spray gear (I don't know, I've never used them and I'm not a paint expert, and would defer to norsa's advice). There are a lot of 'so called' epoxy primer aerosols that aren't 2 pack though - the real 2 part ones have a button on the bottom of the can to release the activator and the whole thing will set solid in a matter of hours after activation. This sort of thing:

Although the epoxies are 2 part (or '2K') they do not contain the isocyanates that most 2K acrylic body paints do, so the spray mist is less hazardous (one still needs to take precautions though).

And i wonder if theres an easier way than getting all the spray gear, like if i can geta can to put it in to spray on bonnet or if you can just paint on bonnet
