Hi everyone, I'm new here so please be gentle.
As per the title really, I am an Agricultural Engineer and I'm after a Plasma to do some work in the shop and to lug around to Christ knows where and run with my generator, from a 16A socket or a normal 13A socket at a real pinch.
I'm after as good a capacity as I can get for a relative price. So far I have looked at almost everything from an Inverter Fusion LTD CUT40, 10mm cut 12mm max for around £400 to a Thermadyne Cutmaster10 10mm cut 12mm max which weigh in at around £1000.
At the moment when I want one I borrow a Hypertherm 3phase, I have no idea what model, but it breezes through 15mm plate like the proverbial hot knife through butter. I'm under no illusion that whatever I get it will be no match for the 3PH units but what I am really getting at is will the Cutmaster10 be any better than the CUT40? Will the CUT40 blow a gasket if it's pushed to the limit all the time? Is there something else I have missed I should consider? I have read on here somewhere people praise the IFL units, but I don't know if they can compare to something twice the price and then some.
Sorry to get so deep for my first post but I really do need a few pointers. A great site by the way, I have often read but never joined in until now.
Thanks,
Glenn
