Balderdash!

My mowers get fed with whatever petrol is cheapest, just like my cars. I live in the UK, so fuel quality is tightly controlled.

Don't take this advice in the USA or outside the OECD.

I tend to add only enough fuel to complete the task at hand, so I run the tank dry every session and definitely at the end of the mowing season.

But hey, what do I know?

If you are that hung up about alcohol, just buy 25 litres or so of fuel at a time and separate out the alcohol.

There are only four refineries left in the UK - so the choice of is limited to where it is refined...

I use the cheapest too, just put some in the mower can while I'm filling the car.
But what made me think the the fella that told me that might be right is that petrol at the esso pumps in the fourcourt of Asda near me are so much dearer than BP and Shell.
