I think the Esab drops as low as 20amps which is always nice to have and I think I would choose the ESAB...simply because it is an Esab, they seem to get very good owner reviews.
What are you intending to weld?...big difference in the amount you are prepared to pay for the esab over the sealey or clarke, does it have to be brand new with a warranty?
No, but I'm a bit limited for loot at the moment and the ESAB is not less that £450 I've just been told. A good hobby welder would be better for the occasional use I will give it I suspect. I'd be happy with a s/hand one if I could find it but flea bay stuff doesn't look too good.

I would go for the best you can afford then hopefully you wont need to upgrade.
I bought a Sealey Mightymig 130xt and although it has been ok with no problems i am looking to upgrade again. Il lose money on it by being cheap at the beginning.
I brought a Clarke 160 tm mig a couple of years ago. I'm building a hot rod
at the momment and it's perfect. It run's really well and weld's 1mm - 6mm
plate no problem. At £330 i think it's a good all rounder.
Well having strained the little grey cells I eventually worked out that a 7 year old ESAB would actually cost slightly more than a new Portamig 185 with the VAT off (which I can get back) so guess what I bought !!!!
Looking forward to trying it out in readiness for some Landy warfare.
