I have a small barn which I’m converting into a workshop. It has two doors approx 3m by 2m. They are currently made from 50x50 box section clad in corrugated steel. Its my intention to recover the doors in something a bit easier on the eye. What I would like to do is hang a smaller door in one of the doors. This is so I don’t need to swing the big door open each time I nip in and out. My intention was to just box in a door size frame in more 50x50 box and then build the door in more box section, clad in whatever I decide to clad the big door in.
What I’m struggling with is what sort of hinges should I use? Would it be best just to use standard butt hinges welded or riveted onto the box section? If so, would I need to let them into the frame the same way I would it I was hanging a wooden door in a wooden frame?
I hope this makes sense
Cheers
