Which Gas

Hi

I am going to start welding mild steel using Argon as my sheild gas, and then i want to move onto stainless steel can i use argon or do i need a different gas?

Argon is ok for stainless Rob, there are other gases available but for general stainless work pure argon is perfectly acceptable.

As busa say stick with pure argon.
for TIG welding there are so many gases, Argon helium mixes for welding Aluminium, Argon mixes with hydrogen for certain types of stainless etc.

If it not the nuclear reactor it is possible to use pure argon. Perfectly welding both a black steel and a stainless steel
