Which Draw Configuration?

I was thinking about this today & interested to know how others organise their tool box

Mine starts with Ratchets & Sockets in the top draw
Random draw of miscellaneous
Spanner draw
Pliers
Screwdrivers, Pry Bars etc
Hammers
Bottom Draw is bulkier & more specialist tools I don't use too often

My tool bag has a mixture of screwdrivers, Chisels, Hammer, Knife & commonly used bits

Tend to have cases for jobs then the role cab with top box with AF, Met, sockets ratchets etc,
Screwdrivers, Grips pliers the top 9 small draws have BA & small AF, odd jigs for nut plates, Clekos
screwdriver bit, the rest odd bits.

All the same type of thing always together.

Always put things back where they came from, even if it’s a corner.

That way you know where the are

....... or should be !!!

Always end up with a pile of tools on the bench or the floor!

My rollcab is in an odd state at the moment as the lower half is at work, the top and mid section at home as I am looking for a new rollcab for work. Normally, I have the lightest stuff at the top working down to the least used in the lower drawers. 1/2" drive in the lower with Imperial spanners above then metric above that 3/8" & 1/4" drive in the mid section, a hammer drawer, cutting, gripping, moving up to screwdrivers and the top being so high is a dumping ground but was last used for cordless tools.

Weight is an issue and only one drawer open at a time as the cabinet has no anti-tilt like a filing cabinet hence the weight lower down and light stuff at the top. Most commonly used is the 3/8" drive drawer and spanners so they are at a height where access is without bending down.

Tool boards I like too, that's a separate issue!

My roll cab is in the shed barely used for years I two small boxes I use one with finer tools like caliper, screwdrivers etc the other has heavier bits like hammers and pry bars

it depends on what jobs I’m doing or what cars as I have a few boxes with dollies and homemade dollies too
