Which 115mm grinder?

My No2 grinder has packed up, an old Black and Decker that has lasted about 20 years, I have a cheap ALDI and Bosch GSW600 and GWS18 Cordless. The Bosch GSW600 gets most use, nice size, not too heavy and has lasted quite a few years, though I do not see them listed any more.

Was thinking of a Bosch GWS7-115 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-Professional-7-115-Corded-Grinder/dp/B01D9QAG9G

Or better spending a little more on a Metabo https://www.amazon.co.uk/Metabo-750-115-603604000-Winkelschleifer-115mm-Colour/

or heard the Hitachi are quite good?

I want something reasonable quality, not too heavy (my right arm is a bit weak in some positions following surgery) and not too vibey, suggestions? Thanks

I really like my M18 Fuel battery grinder. Not sure if other grinders do it but this one brakes the disc when you release the trigger - no waiting for it to wind down to put it back down.

Just looking for 240v, I have the the cordless Bosch which is handy but batteries do not last too long.

all mine are Hitachi....6-8 of em.......
got an as new DeWalt in a clear out/garage sale....what a piece of garbage.....
all the Bosch grinders I have seen are made in China....at euro prices....no thanks...

I picked up pair of Hitachi grinders on the way into London for a small job (cutting up a 20mm wall 20" oil well / pipeline pipe) from Toolstation, both a 4.5" and 9" and they're pretty damn good. Dropped something on the mains cord of the 4.5" and still yet to get around to repairing it (the Milwaukee is that good) but use the 9" pretty reguarly.

My Bosch GSW600 is marked Made in Russia! And my old Black &Decker was made in Italy....

The gws is great for what it is ,,, runs slightly rougher than some , and not the most powerful but they are super slim and fit in one hand very very easily , I have still a few with thinned down guards that I use just on 1mm cutting discs ,, eventually the rocker switch wears and gives bother , and on three or four of my previous ones the armature has finally worn out and the pixie inside farts , then its all over ,, but thats a couple of years of tough use ,, the brushes are easy to change . all in all I suffer the lows in exchange for the slim design , you can weild one like a light sabre ... new dewalts are just huge , at the moment Im using old dewalts for rough stuff and Fein for nice things. Ive a few older Makitas too , as mentioned dont rule out Hitachi . Ive no Hilti grinders ,,,, may try them next ,,, The Fien are not small either ,, all in all not much help , but something to think about.

It says it weighs 2.38 Kg, the Bosch is 1.9 Kg and Metabo 1.8 Kg

Makita? They do one for about £30. I have to 110 but there is a 240 version also.

They are light. I got it as mrs1979
Doesn’t like the heavy ones

I can vouch for the GWS 7 115, mine has spend its whole life with a fibre disc on, so not easy work and is onto its 4th or 5th set of brushes but still going strong.

I just get whatever's cheap, I've killed expensive ones just as quickly as the cheapo ones.. I've got a wickes 12.99 or whatever jobbie still going that has lasted years..

I noticed Amazon had an open box Metabo described as "Condition: Used - Like New - Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged." for £34.15 delivered, I realise I will need to swop out the EU plug, but thought worth a punt at that price.

If you are looking at Hitachi, don't forget they are now Hikoki, so most of the new models are available under that brand - I think the STX is an older model weight is 1.8kg.
I think the G12SR4 would be better, same weight more power.

I like my Hitachi/Hikoki grinders, but my Metabos are a class above though.

The older Makita 9554 / 9557 are excellent, new armatures from Makita are only £13 if you do burn them out. The cheaper Makita is no-where near as rugged.
