Where to buy good mig wire in Northern Ireland or online.

I tried all my local suppliers and couldn't get any good brands. For 0.8 5kg
Golden bridge at £19
Super 6 £18 plus vat
Search £19.34
SIP £16
Jefferson £13.50 plus vat but they have been waiting on it for 2 months.
I suspect online is too dear when posted to Northern Ireland.
On amazon gys mig wire is £16.90
Is any of these good brands. I read lincoln was least likely to rust but weldequip is out of it too.

The Belfast area is well supplied with proper pro welding shops, Alister Moore, Welders Choice, Weld Pro, JG Burns for a start.
McIntires have a branch local to you and Fyfes will have something in stock.

Not sure I'd bother waiting on Jefferson wire if it is anything like the gas less wire I tried from them.

Mcintyres was the jefferson wire and haven't had it for 2 months and fyfes was the Chinese golden bridge one and weldquip said they have discontinued lincoln

Have you tried Allister Moore in Mallusk? They stock good ESAB wire and rods.

The postage to NI will make it an expensive roll of wire.

Alastair Moor will get you ESAB wire in if they don't already have it in stock.
They have done for me in the past, but in all honesty I can't tell the difference between it and the Weldmig ER70s-6 wire they sell by the pallet load.

What are you welding that you need a "better" wire?
I'm fussy with arc rods (need all the help I can get) but can't tell the difference in solid mig wire.

Gasless wire?
Now that is worth spending a few quid more on.

I've never tried good wire. I've a new welder ordered and wanted to try better wire. Other people on here saying the lincoln wire didn't rust like the rest.
15kg always rusted on me before I got it used so I was using 5kg. If better wire didn't rust it would still be cheaper to get the 15kg better wire than 5kg cheap wire.
Its for making everything on the farm, from crushes to bale tippers to creep feeders to gates. Like this.

never seems to bother me any , and some places I work the welder can lay for months at a time . Then again , Im not building aircraft or submarines either.

I’ve thrown a ween of those wee packets of silica gel in below the reel. They seem to do a quare job of preventing corrosion on the wire.

I thought that was coke they had been sending me ,,, ive been grinding it up and snorting it

I'm also frustrated by the availability of quality welding wire in NI.

McIntyres only stock that Jefferson rubbish but they do sell Ine blue stick welding rods, which are very good.

Modern Machinery Supplies in Lisburn used to stock Lincoln, etc but all they had the last time was Super 6!

Denis Wilson might be worth trying.

The BOC shop in Omagh usually has Lincoln wire in stock but be sitting down when you ask the price!

It doesn't matter what make you buy, it will all still rust if you leave it in the welder long enough! As said, spray some ACF50 over it & wrap a plastic bag over the roll of wire, I've used WD40 when I'm stuck. Just remember to remove the bag before welding!

Something I do is to cut a strip of green scotch pad, fold it up & clamp it round the wire using a good strong clothes peg between the wire reel & the feed rollers. It takes off any light rust & saves your liner.
