1. Make sure the fit up is better i.e no gaps
2. Clean the paint off properly
3. Turn the power down on your machine. Let the metal cool for a while between welds
Thanks guys, my cuts were pretty poor to start off with. Really struggled to cut 35mm tube with a 100mm grinder. Especially on a 40* angle. Need to re look at my cutting tool options. As the tub is only going to get bigger.
Use 1mm cutting discs, and a piece of angle wider than box to provide accurate cutting guide. Before trying to make anything with your welder, I would suggest practice on scrap material so you have a better idea of how to set up for different thickness material.
As mentioned above, only use the magnets to get a few small tacks to hold it together, Magnetic field can play havoc with the arc, I do lots of cutting with 1mm discs, no guide needed, I find it easy to follow a nice fine marked line, Don't force the disc just let it cut at its own speed,
