Where does this wire go?

Switch on the right...one of the wires has been left out because there were no lights on the end...there are now...which terminal should it go in?

Circuit looped around the switches rather than the roses these days? Just a single wire in the lights here rather than 3x t&e's that I'm used to.

That's so people can have poncy light fittings that have no space in the rose to put all of the wires.......
L1 is the one you want but check the others are still tight before putting the switch back on.

and i was going to ask somebody to sort ours out on this bodge up of a hole.

Had a sparky round as i was lost with what to do as in the hope he could to help with ours as when you turn on the stairs light the kitchen came on instead.

thats just the starters and after an hour he gave up. didnt charge us at least.

he said it would be easier to rewire.

its quite common now to take the supply live and neutral to the switches then out to the light fittings. specially on recessed down lighters that cant be easily got at and will only take 2wires

he was/is a real sparky but then a mates mate.

maybe best to get a few chaps in.

next years job anyway as put up with long enough using no lights in the hallway.

i guess some time it did but SWMBO said the previous owner arsed about with the big light just before she got the house and thats when things went wrong. He fitted wall lights in the alcoves also.

Easy for people to get confuddled with lighting! I went to a house not so long ago where the owner had changed all the switches and then one switch turned all the upstairs lights and all sorts, he had got the feeds and switch lives confused in nearly every switch he had changed!

Back when fitting dimmer switches and Argos/IKEA light fittings was coming into vogue, I'd get quite a few calls to "can't turn lights off" and "keeps blowing fuses" from the family they'd generally learn their lesson and call me to fit the new ones in future

my mate was the best . customer wanted 2 new lights fitting up so he said 30 quid . never heard anything and a week later they rang him up can u fix out lights I've got the wires mixed up mate said 60 quidguy said u were only going to charge 30 for putting them up mate said that's why I'm charging double to fix them .teach u a lesson

I used to do similar when me and another maint sparky would do domestics for a bit of pocket money, if they moaned about the quote we would tell them to find someone else, they normally came back but we would put the price up to teach them a lesson too.
