Looks a bit like the boost sensor on mine, give a clean with some carb cleaner.
Have a look on eBay for an egr blank or blanks, on earlier cars blocking it off is ok, euro 5 onwards cars don't like it.
Right, well I have just given that sensor a basic whip over with a cloth and ran a cotton bud up the inside til it was clean, put it back on and went for a blast...dear god there's a difference now. Boost feels more abrupt when it kicks in, it revs higher and I got to the usual point where the light comes on and nothing...could it reall be that simple? If it is then I am going to make a blank in disc as I have plenty of steel to do it with and will also take I let off and put a load of foaming degreaser through it
Yes just ordered one from Poland. I can't believe how much different it has made cleaning that sensor. Just been for another drive but connected to the laptop and where it used to hit 1.3 bar boost on heavy acceleration now it's hitting 1.8-2.0 bar! It's a totally different car now
Right, unplugged egr and still got the same code but instead of saying low signal it's saying no signal. On the parameters screen the egr is showing as 1% open and does not alter at all. There is no mil light on now so I'm going to leave it unplugged.
Does it still need blanking as when it's unplugged it's not opening anyway?
Where does the blanking plate fit? On the exhaust manifold, the entry to the egr valve, the exit of the valve or the entry to the manifold?
Light has come back on but under completely different circumstances so will be getting a new sensor I think. Just blasted it with some foaming degreaser and a hell of a lot of black sludge came out so maybe that has done enough now but I'm going to replace it anyway.
Someone mentioned about breaking up the pre cat? Is that the dpf and if so what will breaking it up do?
And just think if you took that to the dealers they would've got the resident monkey to just swap parts over with new ones until it started working again then charge you £300 quid for the pleasure!
Right, will have a look at pre cat tomorrow then. Just been shopping and the missus asked if I had put a new engine in it when I pulled out to over take a Lorry
