when you forget to account for 1 dimension

been one of those days...got my coolant system renewed (apart from pump as yet), new flexi pipe, new feed pipe, brass adapter to join it all together, cleaned the sump out etc...just gone to fit the sump back into the lathe only to realise whilst i left enough space for the sump to sit where it needs to, i havent left enough space to actually get it into position to then slide into the hole in the base so, looks like the lathe needs to be moved again

the annoying thing is that i genuinely thought i had covered this one, i usually get stuff like this wrong but i took the time to make sure it would fit...just competely forgot that it needed to fit outside before it can be put inside

You are not alone.
My project this month is fitting a wood mezzanine into a cottage, the room only has 1 square corner (and it's on a wall that's nowhere near where I'm working).
I carefully measured everything and paid extra for the timber merchant to cut 10 off key bits of wood to exact sizes.
They are exactly what I asked for but the angles in the room means they won't clear the kitchen cabinets so I've had to resize them myself...

We had a new project that needed a lot of design work so hired a design engineer to help out our team, he was given a welding fixture to design/draw, the sort where you load a dozen piece parts, clamp them then let the robots weld it up, the design was sent over to the company that builds our fixtures, luckily one of their guys gave the drawing a good looking at before starting to make it and phoned our engineering dept. to point out that if it was built to the drawing you would never be able to get the finished part out after welding - new designer was shown the door.
