Hi from the new guy....
Im looking for help and advice on which gas to use.
I have been welding approx 6 months now and have been using a sip maigmate 150 with both .6mm and .8mm copper and small disposable bottles of arga shild co2/argon mix producing some satisfactory welds on body panels and other thin items. Then i was given a pub bottle the weld quality wasnt great but it was usable. since then i have been given a large midi co2 bottle that has a eng/weld label on it and is the correct green top for co2 but the weld quality is really crap. proper like you hear, bird **** weld. I was of the understanding that co2 was ok to weld with. in fact machine mart do the small disposable bottles of co2 also so whats wrong? i was hoping i wasnt going to have to start throwing money away buying the disposables again
can you get bad gas (pardon the pun) or is co2 for different welding?
Thanks for any advice.
