Been looking for some dolly's ( not the toy kind ) I had for some time , could I find , could I hell so I started tidying up some cheapies that were happily rusting under the bench after spending time cleaning I wanted some 600g paper pulled the sanding stuff box out and what was in there .

Yep start cleaning again . Another reasons to start clearing what I don't want . Yes I know what we all say about tools but it's got to be done .
then I can invest in more tools I want

That reminds me of something a few years back. Was cutting up some rebar reinforcement mat with an angle grinder and thought that it would be much easier if I had some bolt croppers. Few days later, looking in a tool cabinet for something else and found some bolt croppers that I had forgotten I had.

I’ll hazard a guess you put it somewhere safe, so you don’t lose it, I’m doing this all the time!

I was looking for a ratchet that I got at Christmas but not used yet.
Hunted high and low.
Eventually found it a few days later in the FIRST place I had looked for it days before, but somehow failed to see

That is so annoying, when it happens. I've done that a few times. It's like the item becomes invisible, for a period of time.

I started with the very best of intentions, listing stuff on here, I think I sld five items and then did something else so about a year later I am no further forward, but I have bought some tools. Doesn't count though does it?

It's damn hard, the organising to get stuff shifted whilst working long days or staying away from home is a massive disadvantage

Then when I'm back in the workshop I have jobs to complete.

I should be slowing up in a few weeks for about a month, maybe just maybe.

Only thing I had was the one my dad uses which is worn down to half its length. I call it the teaspoon because it lifts so little but he likes it, but then he is nearly 89 so its amazing he still wants to use one!

I had a new good quality spare head I nicked the shaft off for a long grape last year so I bought a new shaft @£12 & fitted it. Didn't like the new shovel as the head was made from thicker steel & heavy to use but needs must & I got my work done.

Then earlier tonight I was searching for some wood & found the lost shovel, beside the firewood pile where my BIL had been using it to lift sawdust! I will be having a word with him about not returning it to where it lives!

I've got some crap to shift too, but I don't live at home and I'm busy most weekends. When I do go back home, the last thing I want to do is crawl around the spider infested rafters of the garage dragging out the tools I've never used.

I guess I'll have to keep it all then.

Anyway, on-topic I lost a gib strip for a Colchester lathe. My workshop is fairly well organised so after searching high and low I concluded that it was lost forever and made a new one. Then when I got my tig welder down off the filing cabinet it lives on top of to service it - what did I find had slipped into the gap underneath - the original gib strip.

I once bought some small grubscrews to replace the gib screws on my mini lathe, and when I eventually found the time to fit them, I couldn't find them. I ordered some more, and when they arrived I didn't have the time to fit them immediately, so I stuck the little bag to the cupboard door with a magnet. Right next to the original bag which I'd stuck to the cupboard door with a magnet!

Did you test fit it ? Left on a rifle ? Sat somewhere with a set of rings on top of it
