When is a Fiskars tool genuine, and when is it not?

I bought a 'Fiskars' bow saw blade. I already have the frame. I bought the blade based on the good service I have had from a very sharp Fiskars kitchen knife that has pleased me for many years, and is marked Fiskars, unlike the saw blade

The bow saw blade arrived today in a Fiskars flat cardboard sleeve. However, nothing is marked on the actual blade. The blade could be from the poundland shop for all I know.

I looked on the back of the sleeve and it says: " MADE FOR FISKARS. Importrd by Fiskars Garden Oy Ab Hameentie 135A 00561 Helsinki, Finland".Then a load of similar twoddle mentioning other countries.
Then "Made in China"

Well at least they are up front with the China bit. If the blades are made to the same spec I suppose it does not matter. There is no way of knowing, as far as I know.

As we often say on this forum "some stuff from China is good but some is tat". The blade was £5 not a quid, so right or wrong I did expect the genuine item.

I don't associate Fiskars with China. Draper maybe, but not Fiskars

I have a few Fiskars items and never ever seen one without their brand on it.
Been a while since I bought a replacement blade for one of the bow saws though.

If the blade hasn't got the branding on, But the sellers photo has, then he has sent you the wrong thing 'by mistake' obviously. Raise it with them

I have contacted the seller and received a reply. I have requested a prepaid postage lable from the seller to enable me to return the item for a full refund.

The packaging might be genuine though but it looks like it has more milage in it than expected

Made for is not Made by , thats the end of it. Without the branding its just a generic blade in my humble view.

That's an interesting point Tom. I don't know enough about how the system actually operates. I do tend to agree with your opinon though.

As for inanimate items like tools etc not pharmaceuticle drugs, I am going have to wait while someone more knowledgable than me comes along and posts.

If Fiskars are actually having stuff made for them by the Chinese, I feel that is tarnishing the brand.

Lots of things you think are German , American etc etc are made in china when you look at the packaging closely or drop an e mail and ask the company where things are made , eventually they will tell you they are designed in where you expect , and manufactured in China , Im shopping to replace my old Waku ladders at the moment , Little Giant are the obvious choice , half the price same en 131 rating etc they are flying the all american flag thing , and when you look closely at the products , made in China , they have a plant in USA making some small number of ladders , but if you ask them the majority of their stuff is Made in China . I will on reflection pay twice the price and buy the '' real thing'' I really should have known better , my grandad used to say , if it looks too good to be true etc etc .
