When have you run out of gas? Also, what's wrong here?

Hi all,

My issue is that for the last few days all I've been able to get out of my welder is welds like this:

Am I right in thinking this points towards being low on gas? I was welding exactly the same material with the same technique the other week and it turned out fine (yeah, a bit lumpy, but I'm still learning). But that looks to me like a porous weld.

Weird thing is the gas is hissing out fine when I pull the trigger. Anything else it could be?

Well you certainly have an issue with gas. You could have run out. Or the torch is blocked, the solenoid may have gone u/s, or the regulator could be the problem. Whichever it is, it is a gas problem.

i had this issue last week with an old bottle, turned the regulator right up, got a few more welds but then it ran out. so yours migth be the same thing. but i did find out after you can go back over the weld quiet easily with almost no prep work on certain things.

Rapidresponse is right you have a gas problem. That looks like no gas at all. Are the gas pipes all attached, we had a problem with a pipe that kept popping of.
If you don't grind the porosity out and just run over it the weld can look fine on the surface but the porosity will still be there. If it's a joint that needs to be strong grind it out.
