Thats no plasma cutter!
Oxy-fuel cutting, probably acetylene, perhaps propane.
Plasma doesn't even come close

Different skills I think but I would agree, those of the past are often more impressive.

That is an epicly large piece of steel. Would love to see that in action.

Fantastic stuff, let me loose in there, I would love to work on that scale.
Where are the valves and cam shafts? and I loved the big steel guitars, seriously heavy metal.
I always wonder did the guys working in those situations realise the scale and beauty of what they were doing? Or was it just 'machining a poxy crankshaft'.

refreshing to see frankly, and ill bet there were statisticly no more accidents either.



All those skills now all but gone from the UK. If only Labour had been re elected and not maggie thatcher. Tony Benn had earmarked all the north sea oil proffits to go into modernizing british manufacturing industry.(Ted heath let the oil companies pay no tax at all untill 1980!!!) Well instead we got Maggie who said "private enterprize", let the yank oil barons in to take the proffits and let the uk manufacturing industry go to the wall, as a way of lessining the unions power. (ignore me this is my personal hobby horse)

rant rant rage rage... when i was a lad we were beat with canes, never did us any harm.. etc etc..
