Wheel bearings

I’ve got the Morgan in bits at the moment for king pins and bushes, got two boxes labelled up, one for each side, to keep all of the parts separate.

Despite this I’ve messed up and put both inner wheels bearings in the same box . I don’t know which came from which side now; the out races are still in the hubs, is it a big risk to take my chances, or do I splash out on new bearings?

Personally, clean everything, fresh grease, wack it back together, check bearing adjustment after say 1000 miles. DON'T OVER THINK THINGS...................

I'd imagine if they are the same make and same age then there's no problem.

Depends, how much work is it to replace if one fails prematurely?
When were the bearings last replaced?
Personally, if I had it that far apart I would replace, unless they are stupidly expensive

if you got realy anal clean em back and rub some micrometer blue on em and see if u get 100 percent coverage on the rollers and mating surface

good grief , they are only wheel bearings , clean give them a spin in your hand , if they dont make bad sounds or feel rough grease them , stick them back in and be happy ,,,

Your best bet for matching them back up would be to look for witness marks or any grease staining or corrosion on the spindles or thrust washers if you've kept them separate.

As above though, they're not Gamet lathe spindle bearings and weren't assembled as a matched pair. If they're the same brand and feel ok when assembled, I'd run them. Pull one apart again before you head off for the alps and replace then if required.

old parts = good quality, new parts = dubious, possibly fake Chinesium these days, I prefer to reuse good quality tried and tested parts, plenty of lube and they will outlast all of us!
