whats your favourite tool?

not necessarily your most used, or most needed, but your favourite tool

mine would have to be my 2 kennedy shifting spanners. they have saved me god knows how many times and no matter how much i abuse them they just refuse to break.

actually used one earlier to crack a nut loose on the lower arm on the megane (because i never have an 18mm spanner when i need one) and even after i beat the life out of it with a 3lb copper mallet it just stayed put and eventually the nut gave up. never had a shifter that works as well and as strongly as these ones.

i suppose second to those would be the grinder, becasue i just enjoy using it and its one of those tools that could do you some serious damage if you arent paying attention

My Fluke 123 Scopemeter, that thing earned me some money. Till it died, I just can't bring myself to replace it, silly money now.

Mines has got to be my 1/2 inch mac tools impact gun. Its smaller than any gun I've seen and it will undo pretty much anything as it puts out 1200nm. Its just a really good tool to use.

Of late it's been my Chinese laser engraver / cutter. Couple of recent examples: I needed a 13/16 setting gauge of a curious shape to set the fuel racks up on a two cylinder Petter PH2 dumper engine. Simples, draw it in cad, and cut from 4 mm polycarbonate sheet - worked a treat. Same engine, needed two inspection cover gaskets. Again, draw them in cad, cut from 1.5 mm gasket paper. Christmas presents for four females in the family sorted making jewelry boxes with names engraved on from 5 mm birch plywood !

What type is it? I've had a gander on ebay but there's as many different types as there are days of the week.

Mine is a Wolf Cub electric drill, all metal construction, only 1/4" capacity but features a chuck that is tightened with a Allen key and it works well.

Same here. I've got an Estwing 16oz claw hammer with vinyl grip that I've had for about 20 years. It's looking a bit grubby now but it's still as solid as when it was first bought.

i have an oxford 150mm digi caliper that was given to me by the tool maker in work, gets used a lot and i thought nothing of it until he rang me about 2 months ago saying if i dropped it in to his he would take it back into work, have it calibrated and then drop it back to me...cant fault that
