Last time I was in the market for one, I paid £30(?ish) at a farm auction .
Farm auction stuff usually sells for about 30-50% of eBay prices, so I'd guess somewhere from 75 to 100 quid.

Just had a quick search on eBay for completed items.
The bottom seems to have dropped out of the market.
Lots unsold at around £30-50.
A few (not all) have sold at around 10-20

Just done a google search and can't find any, Does anybody else remember them?

The bucket of Swarfega would have been luxury when a was an apprentice in the steel works, We had a bucket of soft-soap (brown stuff a bit like grease) and a bucket of sand to add an abrasive element, Then dried your hands on cotton waste that was bought in big bales!! Like something from Charles dickens days.

they brought in a full set of barrier creams and changed out the swarfega not long before I left. no doubt for some HSE requirement. Seem to remember it was orange tub, with grit / granules in it, can't remember the name of it.

personally not used sand, but have been know to add a handful of washing machine powder with squeezy when we didn't have anything else at home. brings the hands up lovely n clean, great for the Friday night out... mind you you'll soon know about it when you have a nick on your skin...

A teaspoon of sugar works well to abrade the crap off when you wash your hands, Loctite 7850 is better though.

I remember when I was sixteen. Got a load oily crap in my hair from being under a motor with a leaky gearbox. My mother washed my hair with DAZ. Now that stuff was gritty and left my scalp red-raw. O happy days.

You can get 90mm wastes that would fit, used on big shower trays with big stupid pointless shower heads
