whats this called - threaded tube/bar

does such a thing exist on the shelf

looking for tube /bar with a threaded hole up the middle , prob a m8 or m10 ish size

Depends what length you need.

Studding joiners are about 30/40mm long with M8/10/12 but are hexagon section.

There are bound to be other suppliers nowadays but it is a considerable time since I had to specify anything like this.

needs to be longer than the stud connectors ..maybe 50-75mm ideal

Just a thought screw 2 connectors onto a longer length of stud or bolt then weld them together carefully and remove the stud. Sy

I was about to post that long taps are available but it is a job to be done in a lathe really.

Welding the nuts would create a smaller than specified pitch when the weld cooled. It would, probably, be tight in the middle.

I suppose if the jig was rigid enough to resist the shrinking you could manage it.

if you find something off the shelf that is threaded at both ends, but not in the middle, there is no guarantee that the threads will line up, even if you cut the thread in the middle. in fact, i think it would probably be quite unlikely : (
