What's the difference in these gas bottles?

As above, why is one much more expensive than the other when they both look the same? I can't workout whether either of them come with gas or are empty.

just worked it out took me a min. It seems you must buy the bottle for 50 quid, then once you have the bottles you can refil them as an exchange service for the cheaper price

The dearer one is to buy the gas and cylinder, the other is the price for a refill.

It doesn't mention anything about how you go about getting your bottle refilled by them. Just says exchange service available through local distributors. .

That's it - you take the empty bottle to a distributor near you, part with cash and get another full one.

I suppose re-fill is a bit of a misnomer if you're thinking literally.

They probably have an arrangement so that when you take the empty bottle back you pay £7.47 and come away with a full one.

If you're not close to a distributor they'll send the gas in a sealed Jiffy bag, along with a funnel.

I'm sure you can get a better deal than that -
I'm in Blackpool and my supplier charged me £50 for a 5 year lease on a pub size bottle, and CO2 refills are a tenner a time. I can upgrade to the bigger bottle too if i want at no extra cost.
They don't do Argon or Argon mixes though, but they are an agent for BOC so no avoiding their charges....
Think its due to the amount of pubs / hotels etc that they do such a good deal.
Where in Lancs are you? could be worth the trip up every few months.....

I think the cheap one is just the price to refill the bottle, before you can do that you need the bottle which is the more expensive one. They just have been lazy and not bothered to change the wording on the description

I get the refill bit, but don't understand the online charge of £7.47. How are they gonna refill my bottle over the internet?

A 1KG bottle would be ideal for me as it would last me long enough. Not gonna pay £50 odd quid for it though.

refilling over the net is easy, you just plug it into your USB port when they tell you and the gas comes down the phone line lol.
I think once you have purchased the bottle you send it back to them and they then send you back a full one, it should work out a lot cheaper than the disposables, as the cylinder is being reused and not thrown away like the disposables, bear in mind on a disposable probaly 75% or more is the cost of the bottle.

Can you really get 3.3 hours of welding from 1kg of CO2? My (probably wrong) figures say that would be about 2 litres/min - is that realistic?
