What's a Euro torch?

Excuse my profound ignorance. I just bought a 240A (Murex Tradesmig look-alike) Mig that wasn't working off ebay. I've now repaired the control PCB and I'm ready to go. The thing is, the torch is falling apart and the lead is too short. I've many people singing the praises of Euro torches... what are they? How do I know if mine is one? If it's not, how do I go about converting it? Here's a a couple of pics of what I've got. No actual pics of the torch - only the connector, I'm afraid.

That'll be a eurotorch then!

If it wern't a eurotorch it would be hardwired in, without a connector. If you can remove it with a mere turn of the outer screw and a tug - it's a eurotorch!

That's a Euro-Torch alright; basically just means they are quickly replaced by unscrewing from the front panel, instead of a direct wired in version on some machines.

Thanks guys. I'm about to buy my first roll of wire and some gas tomorrow and have a blast. I need to weld a whole load of 2" steel box section together. I'll order a new torch too... any suggestions? Nothing too expensive though - I only payed 60 quid for the welder.

If you want to be able to use that machine of yours up to it's maximum capacity you will need an "MB25" type torch (250amp). If it's mainly light duty work go for the "MB15" type (150amp) which has a smaller front end & is handier for thin sheet welding & getting into awkward access jobs.
