What will a 10mm bolt hold?

Hi

Still at the planning stages of my rotisserie and have a few questions about what is strong enough for what
The arm that the crossbar, that holds the car, will be a sliding fit of 50 x 50 x 4 over 40 x 40 x4. I need to know (1) what size of bolt will be strong enough to support a 600Kg shell, one at each end? and (2) how far in from the end of the box, minimum, should the holes be?
6mm bolts, 10mm in I guess won't cut it I was thinking 10mm HT bolts 30mm in from end of the box?

Hard to judge the distance without 'seeing' but yes 30mm sounds about right... from some distant memory I can sort of remember the distance should be 2x the bolt diameter minimum...don't know why or how I know that though.

If it all drops on my feet we'll know it was wrong

At least if it does drop on your feet..you will be glad its a lightweight bolt and not a big heavy one
